Apprentice Quantity Surveyor - Norwich

We are seeking a motivated and proactive individual to join our firm of construction consultants as a Quantity Surveying Degree Apprentice. The successful candidate will complete a fully funded BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying degree on a part-time basis whilst gaining practical experience at work. This is followed by further studies and assessments to become a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). This apprenticeship is a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to earn, learn and study for a degree without any of the cost. No experience is necessary as full training will be provided. What You’ll Be Doing The role of a Professional Quantity Surveyor is wide ranging. It includes monitoring finances, managing teams, administering contracts and finding solutions. Chartered Surveyors are in demand around the world so often find themselves in senior management roles and gaining experience across different industries throughout their careers. As part of your apprenticeship you will attend Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford from September 2024 for a total duration of 4 years. Each academic year includes 2 semesters of 12 weeks. In your first year, you will attend university 2 days per week during term time. This reduces to 1 day per week for the remaining 3 years. In your final year you will begin studying for the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) and sit your final assessment after graduating university. These courses will be fully funded by Hainstone including travel and expenses. You will be required to undertake regular private study alongside your full time role in order to successfully complete these courses. Your learning will be supported by on-the-job experience gained in the workplace, where you will work alongside Chartered Surveyors delivering live construction and infrastructure projects. This will develop the required skills and knowledge to support your studies. Our internal training programme will ensure you gain appropriate experience at each stage of your career and enable you to take responsibility for the management of your own projects as soon as you are able. In addition to this, we will offer you the opportunity to gain work experience with other organisations within the construction industry and study additional external courses where these are required to support your development and progression. Salary and Benefits You will receive the following salary and benefits as part of this role: •£19,500 starting salary with regular pay reviews linked to academic progression and performance •Fully funded BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying degree including tuition fees, travel and expenses •Fully funded training to become a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and achieve the designation ‘MRICS' •20 days annual holiday plus statutory bank holidays •Company pension scheme with employer contributions matched up to 5% •Private health insurance with Vitality including member rewards and offers What We Need From You To be eligible for this Quantity Surveying Degree Apprenticeship you must meet the minimum academic entry requirements detailed below for the BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying degree at Anglia Ruskin University: •112 UCAS Tariff points, equivalent to: o3 A Levels at grade BBC oBTEC National Diploma DMM (1x Distinction and 2x Merits) oAccess to HE Qualification oAll appropriate and equivalent, UK and international, Level 3 (and above) qualifications will be considered •4 GCSEs at level 4 / grade C or above, including English and Maths If your course ends in Summer 2024 you must demonstrate you will achieve the above by submitting your predicted grades with your CV. In addition, this position is ideally suited to candidates who can demonstrate the following: •An interest in construction, property development and surveying •Good literacy, numeracy and communication skills •Capable of managing your own time to meet deadlines •Willing and committed to learning new skills to complete the apprenticeship •Willing to regularly travel to construction sites during the course of your employment •Willing to travel to Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford one or two days each week during term time •Either hold a valid UK driving licence or commit to obtaining a UK driving licence and means of transport during the first two years of employment About Us Hainstone is an independent firm of construction consultants based in Norwich. We undertake quantity surveying and project management services for construction and infrastructure projects across the East of England. Our business was established in 2019 based on a vision of providing innovative solutions and a market-leading level of customer service. Our clients range from commercial businesses and private developers to housing associations and councils. Some of the projects we deliver include new homes, roads and offices, as well as the extension and refurbishment of existing buildings. The services we provide span the lifecycle of a construction project. At the beginning of a project, we prepare masterplans and undertake feasibility studies. We work alongside architects and engineers during design development to prepare cost estimates and monitor our client’s budget. We procure and employ contractors to carry out construction works on site. We monitor the build, review payments, carefully manage finances and ensure the successful completion of the works. Our clients trust us to lead, manage risks and deliver value.
